Have you ever seen a rainbow so wonderful?
This was our view on Saturday evening as we took a 4 hour drive to visit family & friends. It was the most amazing site...completely sunny and bright on one side of the interstate & rainy and foggy on the other...along with this beautiful rainbow of course. We couldn't take our eyes off of it and the girls begged me to drive them to the end to find the pot of gold, tee hee.
Well, that didn't happen...but we had a great time anyway.
With lots of sister hugs...

...and naked toes...
...because we had an 85 degree weekend, whew wee!
We even planted a tree...a flowering Dogwood to be exact...representing the VA, yay...

...oh, and a lilac bush too.
Then Papa helped the girls plant tomatoes and strawberries in these hanging buckets...
Then Papa helped the girls plant tomatoes and strawberries in these hanging buckets...
...how fun is that!?! I can't wait to see how they turn out. They drilled 5 holes in the strawberry one (on the left) and planted strawberries in each hole...then a tomato plant from the bottom of the other bucket (on the right). Has anyone ever tried planting any fruits & veggies like this? If you have, please let me know how they grew. And I'll keep ya posted on these.
Before we left, we had lunch with Mimi at my fav little italian pizza joint. There is a terrace outside that is covered in these yummy smelling flowers and swarming with bees...
...there was no way my girls were eating anywhere near them, hehe. They even walked the long way to get into the restaurant to avoid the bees. But you know I had to take a moment to get up close and personal ;-)
Oh, & I don't want to leave out the main reason for visiting...I got to meet the cutest newborn baby boy...my bestest friend in the whole wide world (since 2nd grade) is a mommy, wow! So exciting! I don't want to post photos of him though...so sorry. I think they are holding out for People to pay millions for the first published shots, so...you are welcome Critty ;-)
And I have a special surprise since I haven't posted in a couple of days (again, sorry...but it's coming along)!

...will win this set of cute gift tags...
Just a little hint...if you have this book you'll just need to take a peek inside to find out. He's even on the cover, he's such a cool dude :-) And if you don't have it, well you should check it out. Or check out your states version, because it's the coolest series of books and you'll be sure to learn some interesting, spooky & weird facts about your state.
Before I go...I must tell you that I did sneak in some creative time, in-between organizing and cleaning. I just made a bunch of the cutest 'Bling Rings,' we'll call them...and some earrings and I'm working on a necklace now...oh so much fun. Hopefully I'll have some posted in the shop tomorrow.
Okay, comment away with your knowledge and have a happy day...errr, night ;-)

Is it Johnny Appleseed??? Lori
That is Johnny Appleseed, and my guess is that it is in Fort Wayne, Indiana!
Yay Lori...it is Johnny Appleseed, the tags will be on there way! But Jingle, it's in Virginia...just for kicks...can anyone tell me WHERE in VA it is?
Stopping by from SITS. Great photos! =)
Happy Thursday!
Jamie! Yippee! I love the tags- so sparkly and fun!! You know what is sad, though? I am from Virginia and I don't have a clue where the statue is! Lori
Oh!!!! He is at the Johnny Appleseed Restaurant in New Market!!!! And he is 10 feet tall???? Wow! Lori
PRETTY pics!!!
And um....did you say earrings...YAYAYAYAYAY!
Great pics, Cuz! My co-worker planted tomatoes in buckets like that and they work well. So, Mimi shouldn't have any problems i wouldn't think.
Is that the Johnny Appleseed off the New Market exit? I know it's close to there somewhere.
how BEAUTIFUL are those pics?! looks like a great time.
That rainbow is breathtaking. They never get old, do they?
Looking forward to seeing the bling rings!
Hey Jamie -
I am totally psyched about planting strawberries and tomatoes in buckets. That is an interesting idea. I'll have to remember that one.
I love the bucket planters...what a clever idea! You'll have to let us know how they work out!
