My 30th Sale & the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act

Woo Hoo, that's right, I just had my 30th Etsy Sale & am bouncing off the walls over here :-)

Yes, I know...30 sales...whoopy, many of you are saying, but I'm just thrilled.  I started my Etsy shop because I absolutely LOVE making cards, gift tags, and so many crafts (that maybe one day I'll add to my shop)...but I have this LOVELY little thought that maybe, just maybe...one day, I'll be able to actually make a living off of crafting & hell, maybe even my shop!!  So every time I get that ding on my iphone that says I have an e-mail...I check and pray that's it's a sale.  And sure enough, tonight I was nursing the baby to sleep...when...DING!  And wouldn't you know...it was a SALE, from none other than the ETSYBLOGGER Team's Fearless Leader ;-) Joey & Aleethea, clothing designer, mommy, & just a mighty cool chick!  She also happens to have a pretty neat shop where she sells her handmade clothes and accessories (even though her shop is closed right now so she can catch up with all the custom orders...you can still 'heart' her and see her sold stuff to see how awesome her clothes are)!

So thanks to Joey & Aleethea for supporting my shop :-)

On a more serious note:

"In August 2008, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) (PL 110-787) was passed by Congress to strengthen product safety laws to ensure only safe and compliant products are sold to our nation's children. While well-intentioned, this legislation imposes several new and burdensome requirements that increase costs at a time of economic upheaval but that do not offer any improvement in the safety of children's clothing or footwear.

Urge your members of Congress today to work with the Consumer Product Safety Commission to develop a pragmatic approach to the implementation of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Strengthening our product safety system is an important goal, but this can only be achieved if there are predictable and commonsense regulations that address safety risks."

Read more details here and then submit the form letter on that page to your members of Congress.

Okay, off to package her fun little gift tags and get to work on some Christmas surprises :-)

Jamie you are so crafty it hurts my eyes...in a good way. I almost hate you, but your header is so pretty I just can't bring myself to do so. And your kids are crafty too!...and you do crafts TOGETHER...why do mine always seem to involve me picking up bits of dried up playdough off the kitchen floor? Sigh...sorry, it's late and I'm tired. I am waiting to go to Walmart @ midnight. Don't ask. But apparently my sarcasm catches up with me the more tired I become. I am so jealous. Maybe I'll just have to browse the craft aisle at Walmart now...damn it. Like I didn't have enough on my list;)

I love to scrapbook (thus my name), and I have enjoyed scrolling through your site seeing all your scrappy, stampy creations. I'm not near that talented, but I do enjoy the hobby. Glad to meet you. Came by from SITS!

I'm more in the nighborhood of 200 sales over 3 shops and two years (I think), but I still get all giddy about every single one. It just excites me that somebody out there wants something I made!
